A Least Favorite Saying From Jesus

Lk.16:18 - Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery.

Apparently a number of people skip over this or must think He wasn't serious when He said this. They believe that they are the exception.

Same as when both Paul and Peter say:
Wives, submit to your own husband as to the Lord.

Wives remember: I can do all things thru Christ who strengthens me - even this.

Divorce is not the unpardonable sin, however, this pervasive and somewhat acceptable practice mirrors the world and compromises the spiritual integrity of the church. It is another sign that the culture has infiltrated the church.

odd timing of this entry..just a few days ago I reminded a conservative friend of mine to beware of idolizing Ronald Reagan and elevating the sin of homosexuality above others. Reagan was a divorced man, was known to have affairs during his 1st marriage, and his second wife, Nancy was pregnant 2 months before they wed...

I am not saying Ronald Reagan is somehow worse a sinner than us all, but the LORD never said homosexuality was "more" grievous than adultery. And indeed Reagan was an adulterer.

Double standards at work.
