Magic

MAGIC

If we really believed the New Testament and the teachings of Jesus without any dilution or compromise through the culture, our upbringing, or the church itself, then our lives would be unmistakable torches about which most people would either hate or be drawn. As it is we are a group of folks which practice their faith on Sundays and the rest of the week live comfortably and rather unremarkably within a culture which is completely and powerfully against everything Jesus lived and taught.
That, my friends, is quite a magic act.

Under the law covenant/works righteousness there wasn't any ideas of magic God required of His people. This is what God was thinking instead:::>

Deuteronomy 28:9 The LORD will establish you as a people holy to himself, as he has sworn to you, if you keep the commandments of the LORD your God and walk in his ways.
10 And all the peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the LORD, and they shall be afraid of you.

Under the New Covenant, the life of the Gospel, this is what God wants for us dwelling among the people of the earth:::>

Matthew 5:14 "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.
15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.
16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that[fn] they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Pastor Rick,

Why doesn't anyone talk about the wonders of our LORD Jesus Christ?
We may hear His Name mentioned in a sermon (in many churches the pastor/leadership preach of themselves, ie., "the gospel of me syndrome", instead of the Bible), so what then are we to make of our faith.

Have we been blindsided by a blind faith? And a faith in whom or what, Jesus, the Living Savior of the world or another jesus of our own making.

Maybe you are right, the magician has deceived his gullible audience with "another jesus" and we are begging for more.

Father in Heaven, we beg of your forgivenss today and every day for your Son, our Savior and Redeemer knows us well when He said, "Father, forgive them for they know not what they do." Who can look upon that cross and be devastatingly broken for the sin we have in us.

Have mercy upon us on that day of judgement, O LORD, hear my prayer.
