Prayer

PRAYER

A little boy lifted his bow toward heaven and shot his arrow skyward. It went twenty feet and fell to the ground. He loaded it up again and shot it once more with the same result. He repeated it a third time. A man who had been watching walked over to the boy and asked him what he was doing. The boy said that he was trying to hit the moon. The man laughed and told the boy he would never do that. Well the boy thought for a moment and said,

“Maybe not, sir, but I’m getting closer than you are!”

Prayerless believers sometimes wonder why some pray so much. To them some of our prayers obviously do not seem to get answered. Well, maybe so, but we get more answered than they do.

This is so true, Rick. We read His word and it draws us closer to God. Then we start praying and God is next to us. I picture prayer like this...several years ago one of my grandsons would sit on my lap and just unload about what was going on at his home, sometimes with big tears streaming down his face...those are my thoughts about being close to God in prayer.

In my opinion all believers understand the importance of prayer, for the LORD has blessed them with that understanding.

When we study the Bible we find that the life of a believer is characterized by prayerfulness not prayerlessness.

A Christian understands that it is an honor and a privilege to pray out of a grateful heart to Their heavenly Father in the name of Jesus!

Isaiah 56:7 these I will bring to my holy mountain and give them joy in my house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and sacrifices will be accepted on my altar; for my house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.

Truly the LORD blesses Christians with joy in His house of prayer.

Mathew 21

13 And (Jesus) said to them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but you have made it a den of thieves. 14 And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them.

The LORD's house is a house of prayer and bounteous healing!

I love David's witness as recorded in Psalm 23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever!

Truly in the house of the LORD good and faithful Christians experience His gracious gift of love for ever!
