The Glory of God

THE GLORY OF GOD

Throughout time we have been given only glimpses of God’s glory. We can peek at it through creation or through the power of nature or through a baby’s birth, but they are only glimpses. There are hundreds of billions of galaxies which contain hundreds of billions of stars in each one. It is impossible for a human mind to understand the enormity of one light year’s distance, but the universe is billions of light years across. There are tens of trillions of cells in one human body, and there are 100 trillion atoms in one cell.

Now I ask you, what kind of Being could create such things? And what if this Being created it all with a Word? And if creation speaks of the glory of God, what will we see when our spiritual eyes lay hold of this Being?

You see, class, we are paupers rummaging through an endless treasure. We are infants reaching out for stars. We are blind men drawing Rembrandts. We are cripples running marathons. We are deaf men listening to Beethoven. We are dumb men speaking mysteries. When we say “the glory of God” it runs off the tongue as if we said “pass the salt”. But one unimaginable day we will behold the true and undiluted glory of God and still live.

And on that sacred day when the glory of God permeates every nook and cranny of heaven and lights up the entire expanse of heaven forever, on that day we will see God’s ultimate glory in perfect bodies provided for us just for that awesome day. And on that same day, and on that first moment when we see fully the glory of our Great and Eternal God, we will then be able to see that all of God’s glory was in one place and in one Person.

Jesus, oh Jesus. HALLELUIAH! WHAT A SAVIOR!!!!!!!!

John 1:14 is one of those stand out verses: We saw
His glory, such glory as of the one and only Son of the Father, full of grace and truth.

How much more will we love and appreciate Him when He blesses us with new bodies!

And:::>

Psalm 44:11 You have made us like sheep for slaughter and have scattered us among the nations.
12 You have sold your people for a trifle, demanding no high price for them.
13 You have made us the taunt of our neighbors, the derision and scorn of those around us.
14 You have made us a byword among the nations, a laughingstock[fn] among the peoples.

Amen.

I don't know either, what that Glory fully is, even when our pastor would should "Glory" in church. I believe he was feeling the strong presence of God and couldn't contain himself. And many of us in the congregation felt the deep convicting presence of the Holy Spirit also.

But, with our flesh, those times don't just stay with us 24/7. Our flesh is distracted with the cares of this world. We can't always be in a worshipful praying mood, especially today, with the distractions out there. It's possible, however.

Was watching a Discovery show about the animals in the Amazon and specifically crocodiles. The river and adjacent lakes dry out slowly in the summer heat until the rainy season starts and replenishes the waterways.

While it's drying up, the mother crocodile (who's laid her eggs in mulch, on land, stays in shallow water to stand guard from predators eating her eggs. She has to keep her head and eyes above water level to keep watching. Insects and flies and mosquitoes buzz around her try to bite her thick hide, which doesn't bother her, because it's so tough, but they also bite her tender skin around her eyes, which swell up and get red; but, as the narrator says, she sacrifices the discomfort because she's determined to keep vigil, watching her eggs. It would be so easy for her to stay underwater and keep the insects off of her eyelids but, her instinct is to keep guard, whatever the cost.

Animals are eating other animals, piranha fish are caught in shallow pools by vultures and the vultures wait until the weak or dying animals are exposed by the dried lakebeds. It's chaos.

This reminded me of the Church. Leaders are eating each other up (figuratively), exposing their unforgiving hearts on TV, radio, press, and we are in such a dry lakebed of our own making. If the Lord wills, to send us an outpouring of His Spirit, we will be renewed, but until then, predators are snatching everything they can get their hands on and the Lord's watchmen can barely hold on protecting the flocks and if the rains don't arrive soon, well, I wonder how we will spiritually survive.

His glory only comes when the people seek forgiveness and admit their faults and dedicate themselves entirely to Him. I've seen it in services and felt it in my own life, and the Body of believers who worshipped together, we all felt God's love permeate our beings and it was so nice to experience the love each one had for another. We weren't picking each other apart. We knew we all had sinner and were celebrating the Lord's victory and being thankful.

But then, the predators come in and try to divide and conquer. Even so, we still can overcome by the Blood of the Lamb.

The question is how seriously are you taking
your sinning? Are you daily celebrating the Lord's victory at Calvary? Are you truly thankful to the Risen Lord?
When predators promote impurity are you steadfastly opposing them?

Very well said J! I love your last line in particular.

Truly those who love the LORD can overcome by the Blood of the Lamb!
