Let's Suppose

LET’S SUPPOSE
Let’s suppose that Jesus never wants His followers to condemn others.

Let’s suppose that Jesus wants His followers to exhibit uncommon humility.

Let’s suppose that Jesus wants His followers to be observably meek.

Let’s suppose that Jesus never wants His followers to be in debt.

Let’s suppose that Jesus never wants His followers to join hands with unbelievers.

Let’s suppose that Jesus wants His followers to avoid worldly entertainment.

Let’s suppose that Jesus wants His followers to dedicate much time daily in prayer.

Let’s suppose that Jesus wants His followers to aggressively help the poor.

Let’s suppose that Jesus wants His followers to have allegiance to Him exclusively.

Let’s suppose that Jesus wants His followers to walk in the kingdom of heaven.

Let’s suppose that Jesus wants His followers to love gay people.

Let’s suppose that Jesus does not want His followers to be capitalists.

Let’s suppose that Jesus wants His followers to be remarkable in a fallen culture.

Let’s suppose that Jesus wants His followers to forsake everything for Him.

Let’s suppose that Jesus wants His followers to walk in His love.

Let’s suppose that Jesus wants His followers to read and obey His Word literally.

Let’s suppose that Jesus never wants His followers to support war and violence.

Let’s suppose that Jesus wants His followers to deny themselves.

Let’s suppose that Jesus wants His followers to live in unquestioned moderation.

Let’s suppose that Jesus never wants His followers to complain about anything.

Let’s suppose that Jesus wants His followers to always keep their hearts on things eternal.

Let’s suppose that Jesus wants His followers to be watching for His return.

Let’s suppose that Jesus does not want His followers saving up money for themselves.

Let’s suppose that Jesus wants His followers to suffer all things for His sake.

Let’s suppose that Jesus wants His followers to seek His face passionately.

Let’s suppose that Jesus wants the lives of His followers to be so remarkable they almost preach by themselves.

OK, let’s suppose all those things are true. And let’s suppose we compare what is practiced in the church and what we have supposed is true. Let’s suppose we can clearly see the distinction. Now, what are we willing to do to in order to live as Jesus wants? Well, being comfortable with the faith we now exhibit, let’s suppose we are not willing to change at all. Well then, I suppose, tomorrow will look exactly like today.
