The Desire for New

Prov.22:28 - Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.
Ecc.1:9-10 - The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us.

Beware of words that are prefaced by the adjective “new”. There are many new truths today which are not new or truth at all.

Amen !! I ALWAYS trace the "new" ideas going around back to their historical roots: it's the only way to tell(literally) where there come from: and usually includes the benefit of showing how they worked out previously.

Ultimately, "the book" on any idea is what scripture says about the idea. So I'd don't find anything "new" about the rebelliousness and divisiveness of groups like the tea-party. I Samuel 15:23 and Galatians 5:20 cover it: and the Civil War's results for the South provide a good example.
