The Moral Gospel

THE MORAL GOSPEL

THIS ARTICLE from the “Christian” Post illustrates with clarity the difference between gospel faith and moral religion. Of course the author is described as a “best selling author and cultural commentator with over 40 years of trusted ministry”. What does that even mean? But as he lays out the approaching hoofbeats of the LGBT community, he gives three things we can do to stem the tide. They are:

1. AWARENESS - The above overview is not exhaustive but intended to alert us to this bombardment hitting our homes.
2. ALTERNATIVES - Purchasing wholesome DVD series and streaming selected programs are great alternatives. The Fugitive, Gunsmoke, Little House on the Prairie, I Love Lucy and other award-winning shows are all available and cheap. My son has two adopted young boys who are growing up with Wally, Larry Mondello, Eddie Haskell and the Beaver and can't wait till the next episode!
3. ALERTNESS - Stay engaged and alert to teaching opportunities when unseemly characters "pop up" on the screen. Whether pausing the program for a quick moment of instruction or following up later at bedtime, in the car or at the table, skillfully share on God's design for a man and a woman and the sanctity of marriage.

No mention of prayer. No mention of the gospel. No mention of witnessing. No mention of fasting. No mention of compassion. No mention of grace. No mention of Jesus. This man’s cure is earthly and moralistic and psychological. It does not represent Christ at all. But he represents tens of millions of professing believers across America. BTW, many years ago men would preach against Little House on the Prairie because two actors who were not married shared a bed and kissed. So the church’s mission is now to keep ourselves pure by teaching people how wicked unsaved people are, and by purchasing wholesome CDs, and by standing against the LGBT community, and by demanding lost people contour their lives in a more non-offensive way.

Attention! Jesus has left the room.
