Questions to a Disobedient People

QUESTIONS TO A DISOBEDIENT PEOPLE
WHO BELONG TO A RELIGIOUS CLUB
CALLED A CHURCH

How can self righteousness be humility?

How can materialism be spiritual?

How can disobedience be God pleasing?

How can sin be good?

How can wrong be right?

How can violence be Jesus?

How can hatred be love?

How can revenge be mercy?

How can debt be wisdom?

How can man’s laws be God’s laws?

How can the world’s ways be the ways of Jesus?

How can rigidity be Spirit led?

How can divided loyalty be complete surrender to Him?

How can prayerlessness gain God’s power?

How can self esteem lead to brokenness?

How can contentment with the same ever be diligently seeking His face?

How can a cruise be called Christian while children die without food?

How can the unremarkable be called the light of the world?

How can compromise be called dedication?

How can self affirmation be called self denial?

How can celebrity be found in His steps?

How can seeking wealth be called seeking Jesus?

How can entertainment be called worship?

How can allegiance to a fallen nation be a part of allegiance to Jesus?

How can 10% of a church budget be considered a commitment to missions?

How can dry eyes be considered compassion?

How can unforgiveness have any part of Christianity?

How can a past profession of faith override a present spiritual void?

How can repentance be a doctrine without a daily experience?

How can eternity be just a concept and the temporal be a reality?

How can the four gospels be true and the practices of the church be true as well?

How can the condition of the church continue without seeing the massive spiritual betrayal?

How can we genuflect to the cares of this life without choking the Word?

How can we speak the name of Jesus and ignore the One who bears that name?

How can we be satisfied with the stale crumbs of redundant ecclesiastical practices?

And considering the obvious rhetorical nature of all those questions, they can be summed up in one question alone:

How can we continue to reject Jesus?

Our Wonderful Saviour, our Perfect example, Who I should strive to be like.

Philippians 2:7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.

    Another Day Pondering The
    Other Day

(No, not a spoof on Dr. Suess)

In reading this post the other day, it was important to my guarded heart to just walk away and think about these deep questions for all of us. Today I spend another day pondering still, what I read the other day. asking "how do these questions inpact my faith in Jesus Christ?" To all who read these questions, it should strike a chord; for some, the fingering will point to a C major chord, and for others a C minor; the difference between playing Johann Sebastian Bach's "Minuet in G" verses Alberto Ginastera's "Creole Dance." The first brings a lingering joy in spite of our circumstances and the second. just plain makes the hair living on the back of the neck stand on end in disarray! (Yet it is exciting to play!)

These are thought provoking, soul searcing, heart wrenching questions I will continue to ponder, just like I did the other day, and hopefully will continue another day.

Psalm 139:23 "Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting."

2 Corinthians 13:5 "Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves that Jesus Christ is in you?--unless you are indeed qualifies?"

Grateful for another post that conjures up examination within one's heart, mind, and soul for the iron is sharpening.....and the sound of the sharpening is not always pleasing to the ear.

    THanks Lorena and Annette.

So true Annette that "the sharpening is not always pleasant to the ear".
