High Treason

HIGH TREASON

”Es lebe unser heiliges Deutschland!”

These were the final words spoken by Col. Claus, Count von Stauffenberg just before he met his death from the bullets of SS rifles on July 20, 1944. The attempt on Hitler’s life had failed and thousands would now pay the price. But why would otherwise sane and reasonable men follow someone like Adolf Hitler? Hitler did not attempt to hide his hatred for the Jews or even his affection for war. He had written all about it many years earlier in Mein Kampf. But sill seemingly honorable men had followed him. Why?

Well let us take a look at what those words that Stauffenberg shouted. In English they mean, “Long live sacred Germany!” And those words reveal the underlying reason why men could follow and even serve a maniac. They loved and had an allegiance to their country and it was that loyalty and affection that Hitler leveraged and had millions pay homage to him. In fact Hitler himself worshiped Germany. But the nationalistic fervor is not just peculiar to Germany in WW II. It is alive and well even today.

But so far we have discussed what the world does. The world, the lost and dark kingdom, chooses countries to worship and will die to defend and protect them. And so you have all sorts of politics and negotiations and saber rattling and sometimes even war. It’s a continuing narrative with a similar script throughout the ages. The cemeteries are littered with headstones of men and women who died either defending a country or attacking one. And it continues today with great vigor only with more sophisticated weaponry.

But that is what happens among the citizens of the kingdom of darkness. It is an alliance based upon national allegiance and it includes all races, all creeds, all religions, gay and straight, liberal and conservative, atheist and preacher, drug user and adulterer and liar and every miscreant known to man. All of them bound together in one common cause and with common allegiance that they will march into war hand in hand to defend. And many times these wars are perpetrated by lies and manipulated truths and are fueled by the hidden agendas of men. And millions of gallons of human blood saturate the earth from east to west and north to south.

The word “sacred” is especially revealing as it pertains to how people felt about Germany. Many still do. But make no mistake, there are tens of millions, and perhaps hundreds of millions, of Americans who feel the same way about America. And I am not suggesting that this is an aberration or is wrong in the kingdom of darkness. No, on the contrary, it’s what fallen souls do. They search for some idol to which they can attach their heart and allegiance. And in the case of nationalism it is a self serving idol since defending it serves to defend their way of life and prosperity. In the end, Stauffenberg could not even understand that the very sentence he shouted was the foundational reason for Hitler’s Germany.

When men’s material life is threatened they will join hands with their enemies in order to protect it. It is the way of the jungle. Christians will join hands and hearts with Muslims; racist whites will join hands and hearts with blacks; straight people will join hands and hearts with gay people; prolife people will join hands and hearts with pro-abortion people; and on and on it goes. That which benefits people is considered precious, and that which is precious creates all kinds of strange bedfellows when it is threatened.

But let us leave all that behind since I was dealing exclusively with what happens in the kingdom of darkness and among those who know not God. Let us now address what happens within the community of faith which deems Jesus as Lord over all and which follows the dictates and teachings of the Spirit and not what benefits the spiritual citizenry. Or at least that is what you would think. You would think, just based upon the New Testament teachings, that followers of Jesus would not pledge their allegiance to anything or anyone other than to Jesus Christ. But in these last days there has arisen an expression of a faith which claims to be Christian overwhelmingly based upon what they say they believe and significantly less upon how they live.

The same sin that brought Germany to follow a man like Hitler is now being committed openly and enthusiastically within the evangelical churches in America. Can you even fathom such a thing? And Stauffenberg’s word “sacred” is no hyperbole as it pertains to how millions of professing believers feel about America.

It is almost impossible to overstate the devastating impact nationalism has had on the evangelical community in America. It seems a little subtle and even something that can be managed before it gets a little overboard, but in reality it is spiritual treason at the highest level. I remember my high school basketball coach telling us that in order of importance these things should have the priority: 1. Faith, 2. Family, 3. Country, and 4. Basketball. Seems reasonable, right? But that is exactly the kind of thinking which makes sense to the carnal nature and makes Jesus part of a list instead of Lord of everything. And it is that mindset which has changed the very fabric of Biblical truth and created another Jesus and another faith even though they both find orthodox slots in our statements of faith.

Because the church has fallen in love with earthly things and pleasures, and because those things have been found in America, the church has fallen in love with America and has set about to create an amalgam which states that Jesus is Lord but He also loves and created America and demands His followers to defend it to the death. And when we embrace such a falsehood the robust nature of our faith becomes compromised. And that foundational compromise leads to fissures within the faith which are patched by more compromises. And eventually the substance and practice of the faith is completely at odds with the teachings of the New Testament.

We have millions of people who not only consider America as a good place to live and to prosper and to have earthly freedoms, but they openly believe that America was created directly by God and continues to enjoy divine favor. Many believe that the sacred favor shown to America is contingent upon America’s support for the secular nation of Israel. All of this seems incredulous in the face of Scripture and yet it is widely and wholeheartedly embraced and practiced. In short, the faith once delivered unto the saints has vanished and a fanciful and western brand has taken its place.

And this deception is so ingrained in the psyche of western evangelical thought that even when you begin to realize how compromised the faith is and just how deceived you have been it is a laborious journey to unravel what you have learned and step into spiritual and Scriptural freedom. It continues to be a painstaking task which places you at odds with mainstream evangelicalism as well as separates you from much former fellowship. It is very painful to sit in churches where you once worshiped and feel alienated and unable to worship at all. You must battle self righteousness, depression, and a critical spirit.

The church has taken the secular and the spiritual, the sacred and the profane, and have made them partners upon this earth. Think about starting a church where everyone is striving to begin a fellowship which seeks to worship and serve the Lord Jesus. But over the years things changed and that church no longer believes the Bible and in fact engages in all kinds of unchristian activities. And it continues to get worse. Would you stay at that church simply because you dream about the olden days? So even if America began as a Christian nation (which it did not) how can you continue to pledge allegiance to that which openly embraces all religions, murders millions of unborn babies, worships money, and is consumed with violence, war, and the pursuit of happiness through material things? The answer is you create a fairy tale about the founding fathers and you suggest that America could return to her former days of glory.

But that is a very sad tale which reveals just how far the essence of the true faith which believes in and follows Jesus has now become a religion of convenience, self affirmation, and national allegiance. The spiritual essence and the magnificent mystery have been removed and in their place is an earthly pragmatism which seeks to satisfy man in his “pursuit of happiness”. And when the essence of Christianity has been replaced with such pragmatic doctrines and practices and attitudes, well then, it is no longer Christian at all. That is a very difficult truth to see and even the suggestion should rattle our beings.

But how many western believers set aside a year or even a month to seek the truth in the face of Scripture with diligence and sacrifice and even with seasons of fasting? Is it not that important and is our love for Jesus not so sacred to us that any hint of compromise must be addressed? Or have we settled into a comfortable and redundant practice which meets our needs and the needs of our family? Is our patriotism so entrenched that we cannot even bear the thought of any sincere investigation? It is obvious the western church runs the gamete from exciting entertainment to dead traditionalism and everywhere in between. There seems to be no real interest in a self denying seeking of the Savior and His kingdom.

But be it known that loving a nation and pledging allegiance to that nation is high treason is the realm of the spirit. Is that too plain and strong? Well, it’s time we all face the reality of the situation. There is little time to play anymore games. That which the Scriptures have predicted is upon us, and the great falling away is in progress and is gaining momentum. And one of the deepest deceptions is when the evangelical community can identify men like Rick Warren and Kenneth Copeland and Joel Osteen and reveal that they are leading people astray while all the while we ourselves are being bound and gagged by the same spirits of antichrist who seek to comfort our orthodox souls with sweet doctrinal songs while we dwell in prisons of national allegiance and worship.

But we still militantly cling to our own idolatry and even claim God approves of it.

Lk.17: 33 Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.

Rev.12: 11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

It is a sad day indeed for Christianity. But in the midst of such idolatry there is a place of grace. And God will give us the grace we need to cast off these grave clothes and step into a journey which seeks to follow Christ and Christ alone. Do not resist the Spirit, for shortly we will all stand before our Redeemer and give an account of our lives. Do we wish to lay rewards at His feet or weep because we lived our lives with compromise? Jesus is the Lord of Lords and we must surrender all unto Him. Anything else is spiritual treason and works against the kingdom of God. It no longer makes for a lively discussion. This has expanded in depth and scope and is now a giant leviathan which has literally choked the life out of the faith. It can no longer be dealt with in nebulous and gentle terms. Nationalism is high treason against the faith. Long live our sacred faith!

Long live our sacred faith in the God of the holy Bible! There is a place of grace. And God can give us the grace we need to step into a joy bringing journey which seeks to follow Christ and Christ alone.

Do not resist the Spirit of God, for shortly we will all stand before our Redeemer and give an account of our lives!

We are witnessing a day that many would turn in their graves if they saw what's being passed as 'christianity' today.

Maybe this delusion was beginning to spread slowly years ago, but I really believe something broke in the principalities of the air in 2008. Christians started to get in heated arguments and reviled men. I had never heard so many christians say the things they've said and get away with. Like imprecatory prayers, that asked God to make their enemies children become fatherless and wives become widows. When that happened, I knew something was amiss and that church will never be the same; out of the same mouths come blessing and cursing.

I never would have believed that we, as humans, can be so easily swayed by politicians, who have one motive, and that is to serve themselves. It must be that the people love to have it so.

The land is so loaded with self-importance and a lack of godly fear, no mercy, and the church wants God to bless a mess. It just won't happen.

I know that every nation grieves God. We are in the last days. There is something particularly unique though in the blinded US churches, those who've traded in their hope for eternal salvation for a utopia of prosperous living and obsession with fighting and slandering anyone who gets in the way. It seems like some christians have become overcome with madness. It's like we are in some movie about people being brainwashed, but it's not a movie.

Even so, please Lord Jesus, come quickly.

    J.

I pray we never see a Holocaust again.

  3. Thank you for this posting. Its opinions are those with which I strongly agree. Always, and I mean always, when a religion gains ascendancy politically, there is persecution of the non-believers who can be anyone with belief systems contrary to that of the religious-political power bloc. That persecution has, without exception, been bloody.

I've watched as the American Christian community has deteriorated into a political movement rather than keeping its calling to spread the gospel of salvation through Jesus Christ. In doing so, it has compromised and denied the teachings and example of Jesus Christ who steadfastly and repeatedly refused to get involved in the politics of the day. Tellingly, the disciples also refused to get involved in nationalistic political movements. They flourished and spread Christianity in spite of, or maybe because of, the opposition and persecution which they faced. It was only after Constantine had his questionable vision that the Church and government began to illegitimately join in a very sick relationship which has continued to one degree or another to the present.

Because Christians have forgotten their first love and given their allegiance to and placed their trust in the false god of nationalism, millions have become disenchanted with the ensuing hypocrisy of the Church and turned away from a very real truth: the love and the hope of the genuine good news of Jesus Christ. I see the United Political Church of America as an apostate religion which exists in order to gain the political power it craves and to which it is so addicted. I believe that we are about to repeat the history of the Reformation persecutions, the Inquisition, the pogroms, and the Holocaust as this misbegotten bastard of an illegitimate political-religious union continues to gain ascendancy. Nationalism is, of course, sacrilegious heresy.

But you are right. There is a place of grace even amidst the idolatry. It is in the shadow of His wings and the resting place of His Presence.

Too upset to post as your blog speaks truth. Will comment after many a tear is shed as, Praise Jesus, he delievered me out of a church system filled with patriotic rot.

Jesus is the head of every man and we will be accountable to Him one day. Have mercy on us, O LORD.

The more I look around my own neighborhood, even the street where I live, I feel like I'm in a foreign place. All things are strange to me that I once thought was right and embraced.

People I spend time with whether family or friend seem like strangers to me. I am no longer a citizen of America. My home is not here. I belong to Jesus and my place is in one of the many mansions He spoke about. And now I pine for home.

Home sweet home is not on earth, it is with the Lord.

I just wish all my loved ones and friends could feel this same disconnect from earthly things. If only. And now the tears are going to fall, so I have to stop. Scripture says it all, at least for me.

    Psalm 84

84 How amiable are thy tabernacles, O Lord of hosts!

2 My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the Lord: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God.

3 Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, O Lord of hosts, my King, and my God.

4 Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee. Selah.

5 Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them.

6 Who passing through the valley of Baca make it a well; the rain also filleth the pools.

7 They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God.

8 O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob. Selah.

9 Behold, O God our shield, and look upon the face of thine anointed.

10 For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

12 O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.

Please pray for my son Cory. He is thinking about the military again. He claims to be a believer but ignores the chastening of the Lord. He either doesn't recognize it as such, or is ignoring it. His life is so in a wilderness state right now and he thinks the answer to his stale life is the military. See how they get the young people to think! Filling their heads with thoughts that a life in the military is good for them when it sends them to hell!

Please pray for God to move in his life that breaks him, brings him to repentance and salvation before its too late!

I wish I knew of brothers and sisters in the Lord I could send him to to help him understand. He mentioned it last night again, knowing how I feel about it. I think he likes to hurt me. He gets frustrated when I don't tell him what he wants to hear. Please pray he recognizes God's correction before he is left reprobate. I am fighting the tears and the desire to be angry at those I feel responsible, even myself and my old church. They put this nonsense in his head. Some days I just can't stand it.

The western church and its pompous attitudes, and the mean people who use children pawns in their evil thirst for power really get to me sometimes. I fight my flesh not to be angry and hate them. I do hate the sin of it though. I'm guessing it is also the frustration that I can't do much if anything to make it better. Watching evil has me vexed. I hate my own sin. Ugh!

    Amos 5:14-15
14 Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the Lord, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken.

15 Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that the Lord God of hosts will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph.

Father, please send Your Son quickly. As David prayed to the Lord.....(on behalf of those children the Campbells are trying to help and for all of us who hurt in spirit and in body this day)

    Psalm 35
35 Plead my cause, O Lord, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me.

2 Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for mine help.

3 Draw out also the spear, and stop the way against them that persecute me: say unto my soul, I am thy salvation.

4 Let them be confounded and put to shame that seek after my soul: let them be turned back and brought to confusion that devise my hurt.

5 Let them be as chaff before the wind: and let the angel of the Lord chase them.

6 Let their way be dark and slippery: and let the angel of the Lord persecute them.

7 For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit, which without cause they have digged for my soul.

8 Let destruction come upon him at unawares; and let his net that he hath hid catch himself: into that very destruction let him fall.

9 And my soul shall be joyful in the Lord: it shall rejoice in his salvation.

10 All my bones shall say, Lord, who is like unto thee, which deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoileth him?

11 False witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge things that I knew not.

12 They rewarded me evil for good to the spoiling of my soul.

13 But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom.

14 I behaved myself as though he had been my friend or brother: I bowed down heavily, as one that mourneth for his mother.

15 But in mine adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: yea, the abjects gathered themselves together against me, and I knew it not; they did tear me, and ceased not:

16 With hypocritical mockers in feasts, they gnashed upon me with their teeth.

17 Lord, how long wilt thou look on? rescue my soul from their destructions, my darling from the lions.

18 I will give thee thanks in the great congregation: I will praise thee among much people.

19 Let not them that are mine enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: neither let them wink with the eye that hate me without a cause.

20 For they speak not peace: but they devise deceitful matters against them that are quiet in the land.

21 Yea, they opened their mouth wide against me, and said, Aha, aha, our eye hath seen it.

22 This thou hast seen, O Lord: keep not silence: O Lord, be not far from me.

23 Stir up thyself, and awake to my judgment, even unto my cause, my God and my Lord.

24 Judge me, O Lord my God, according to thy righteousness; and let them not rejoice over me.

25 Let them not say in their hearts, Ah, so would we have it: let them not say, We have swallowed him up.

26 Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that rejoice at mine hurt: let them be clothed with shame and dishonour that magnify themselves against me.

27 Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the Lord be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.

28 And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long.

    Dear Cheri,

I will pray for your son Cory and your family with a humble heart before our Mighty God. My eldest son is in the National Guard and I trust our LORD every day with care of his precious soul for God, the Holy Spirit, convicted me of my idoaltry of nationalism several years ago. I am so very grateful for the LORD'S chastisment as He has shown me clearly through His Words that He did not come to be our political king. The process has been slow and all I can do now is pray, pray, and continue to pray for my son, who does not see nor understand my thought process concerning the political realm. There are times when we conflict, but through it all I am learning a patience that everlasting as I wait on the Lord. I have to trust, trust, and trust only on our LORD, for I have a difficult time trusting in the likes of man, and Jesus Himself promised all of us that He would never leave us nor forsake us and I cling to that promise with bloody hands. Dear Cheri, never let go of Christ and please know that I can relate to your situation more than you could possibly know.

I have never met you personally, and that is okay, however, I love you as a sister in Christ Jesus as you are His very own.

Prayers for Cheri's son and also, the love of a faithful mother, in Jesus Name.
