THE CAPITALIST JESUS
Imbedded
in a capitalist society is a symbiotic as well as a parasitic relationship
between the rich and the poor. And the Bourgeoisie give birth to children who
are much more likely to succeed financially than are those born to the poor.
This advantage can be seen in a myriad of ways. But this is EXACTLY the system
against which Jesus taught and yet the American evangelical church not only
embraces and enjoys it, but the church teaches it came down from God.
Now
there is a real doctrinal sleight of hand when you can remove the words from the
mouth of Jesus and replace them with your own and have those in the pews clap
with appreciation.
Scary huh?
ReplyDeleteBut Jesus did say that we would always have the poor. I believe its because there is evil in the hearts of man. He was prophesying when He said this.
Again I am amazed that my son, who says he is an atheist says of all the world's economic systems, capitalism is the worst for the poor. Says volumes.
And American Christianity loves money, as we can all see when we turn on Christian media.
God help us all.

Very true, Jesus also did say that we cannot serve both God and money - looks like most Christians prefer money over God.
ReplyDeleteMany people make a lot of money off of the work I do, and I am ashamed. I am well paid, but the money means nothing to me. I find ways to give it away because I cannot stand it. To me money is dirty and i try to stay as far away from it as I possibly can. It wasn't always like that. Money was very scarce growing up and in my early adult years. But i find that what makes people happy is not the same that makes me happy. When money was the tightest was some of the happiest times in my life. Vacations, my husband loves them, I couldn't care less. Fancy cars, lol. I once broke up with a guy because he was always pushing his corvette at me. I am content with sitting on the beach with an ice cream cone; yes vanilla. Now that is a vacation. Sitting in my favorite chair with God's Word, my weekend escape. I don't understand why all the fuss over riches and expensive things.
ReplyDeleteI was once into some nice things, but all you do is worry about keeping them nice! You never really enjoy them. And like Jesus said where a thief will steal. Who needs all that!?
Money is a means to live, not a way to live. And, if you have money give it to someone who needs it. Treasures in Heaven, that is where mine is. No, I am not better than you, just trying to obey and stay right with God, as we all ought too. We are barely getting into heaven. Talk about who you know, not what you know. But in a sense, isn't in a spiritual sense who you know, what you know?
Be still, and KNOW that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. Psalm 46:10 KJV
John 1:7
The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
But what a person to know1 Talk about riches! How prosperous is your soul to know the living God and all His ways? I say, very. INDEED! Praise God!

ReplyDeleteI think when we are well paid we should be very very grateful for the money. Let's not neglect to bless our families with it too.
Money honestly and wisely earnt is a blessing to be cherished. Let's never regard it as dirty, for it is necessary and needed and can even be a means, when wisely used, of bringing families closer together!
