Holy Humor?

HOLY HUMOR?

There are internet sites which photoshop pictures of all sorts. This picture is one of them. It depicts President Obama kissing Prime Minister Cameron. We should expect this kind of demeaning humor which emanates from a heart of hatred. Those who photoshop President Obama would never do the same to President Bush and vice versa. This kind of self serving carnality should be beneath a follower of Jesus Christ regardless of how he feels about the spiritual status and the policies of President Obama.
A picture like this also exposes a hatred for gay people by mocking and deriding them. It has become a fashionable sport these days among evangelicals who burn the Bible in favor of conservative politics.
Please remove “Honor the King” and all of I Cor. 13 from your Bible if you believe this kind of humor is holy and acceptable before God. I love to laugh and I believe a sense of humor is a good thing. However I can see right through this kind of hatred which attempts to camouflage itself under the guise of humor. If we as believers ever hope to share the gospel with sinners we cannot mock them.

Let us say a family moved in next door to you. They seemed religious however you believed they were not born again. They seemed very nice. They were a family of four with a husband and wife and two well behaved daughters. Yes, they had unbiblical views about morality and the path to eternal life. Now let us suppose you began praying for them and asked God to use you and your family to lead them to a saving knowledge of Christ.

What would you expect God to say to you? How would God lead you in light of Holy Scripture. Would you be led to verbally and publicly assault your neighbors? Would you spread demeaning jokes about them to saved and unsaved alike? Would you call them names like antichrist or demons? Would you gather up a group of friends and attempt to have the entire neighborhood pressure them out of the neighborhood? Would you draw pictures of the husband with devil’s horns protruding from his head? Is that how you believe God might lead you?

And if you actually did all those things I suggested, could you really go to church and worship God? Could you be an intercessor for that family on one hand and be a caustic hater on the other? Could you really suggest you loved that family with the love of Christ? And given the nature of your speech and actions, could you really contend that you believe Jesus died for that family? And are you suggesting that you were much better than are they before you were saved? So you are judging people by the description of their sins rather than the weight of their sin before a Holy God, whose weight equaled your own?

I hope the things I suggested seemed ludicrous to you and completely unchristlike. But let us pretend that same family was named Barak, Michelle, Malia, and Sasha. “Oh, that would be different because he is the president not just some ordinary neighbor.” Oh? So you are a respecter of persons and you feel you have carte blanche to act unbecoming if the lost person is important? Do you know why you feel that way? It is because politics has seeped into your Christian life and you have become blind to the teachings of Jesus. And your speech and behavior is not done in a closet and completely out of the sight of others. You know why? Because when you speak and feel like you do you receive a sense of affirmation both from your religious and political clique, as well as a sense of self affirmation.
There is a term for that kind of affirmation.
It is called self righteousness, or more succinctly…sin.

No it would not be different, at least to me.

This was shocking when the page populated as I click on the bookmark. Not exactly what I was expecting to see. Repulsive, sick, very mean, and not funny at all.

That is why I say I am not an American Christian. I am not one of those who condones this trash.

This is no better than the video on standing for the truth web site.

Don't you see? It is on both sides. They are all the same. Whether basing in one direction or the other. It is all sin, all of it. We need to pray, really pray. I don't know whether to be angry or cry!

Dear Lord please send your Son soon.

If only they could remember what Jesus said and how He sees sinners.

    Matthew 9.
12 But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.
13 But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

If only they could believe that once again as it was when they came to Christ, as full blown sinners, and Jesus was gracious to them and saved them, forgiving them.

    Rick,

This was exactly what i was pondering in the morning as i was doing my son off at day care. The scenario you laid out was what i had in mind. Do they refer to the compromising Christians they know as antichrist? No. They would much rather say God is working on them. I have met people that are drunkards and spent some of their weekends with their spouses in strip clubs that accuse Obama of having an antichrist spirit. Being conservative makes one above reproach. My take is how can one claim Obama is not a Christian but be ardent about judging each move he makes from a spiritual perspective? "What have i to do with judging those that are without"? In response to sin among church leaders they're the first to shout "touch not my anointed". Carnal mindsets on.display.

Dear Lord Jesus, I just ask for your special favor and grace for President Obama and First Lady Michele and their two dear girls, Malia, and Sacha, I pray, Lord, for their protection and that whatever good work you began in them, that it will be accomplished in Jesus Christ, by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ.

I'm not usually into the talk about demons, because it scares me, but I have a feeling we are being barraged with demons from the pit of hell, who have been unleashed and oppress unruly christians. They are using christians as whipped-up taskmasters who stand in the temple and lash their whip at those they deem unworthy, sinful and ungodly.

It's crazy. We are witnessing a demonic spiritual display where a portion of christians have almost gone mad, insane, lost their minds. Titus says, "to the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but even their mind and conscience are defiled. They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable, disobedient, and disqualified for every good work".

Has anyone noticed how there's been a sudden increase of rabid verbal attacks - spiritual cursings on anyone who is not a conservative republican christian - by, God forbid, christians? The world is watching and especially the Church around the globe is watching this display and it is shocking. We could never have thought that we'd see a renewing of church hatred, like in the days of the Inquisition, Crusades, etc. Lord help us that these attacks just remain "verbal". The next step up could very well be persecution by apostate christians of any and all who don't follow suit.

I would agree with the idea that demonic spirits are at work here.

  7. I know republican Christians are the way you desribe, but I also democrat Christians who are the same way. I think it's time to lay all politics aside and just live the way Christ wants us to. It's time to stop bashing each other all the way around. James 2:1 My brothers, do not hold your faith in our glorious Lord Jesus with an attitute of personal favoritism. For if a man comes into your assembly with a gold ring and dressed in fine clohes, and there also comes in a poor man in dirty clothes and say, "You sit here in a good place," and you say to the poor man, "You stand over there, or sit down by my footstool," have you not made distinctions among yourselves and become judges with evil motives.

I do not support republicans, democrats or libertarians. I do not support any of the filty cartoons or the demonizing of people in politics. There is a Spirit presiding over USA politics, and the it is NOT THE Holy Spirit. Pray for their salvation, and live a quiet life thatt wins others to Christ. Time for us ALL to quit beating this dead horse of politics.
    BOTH sides are guilty.

These carnal mindsets on display have nothing to do with Christ. They are not Christian because they haven't been born again. Jesus said you will know them by their fruit. This spirit of mocking is Satanic and ought to remind us of the appalling mocking that Jesus bravely endured whilst fulfilling His triumphant mission.

These attacks can't just remain "verbal" because there is a link between speech and deeds. Let's not remain naive. Jesus spoke of a coming great tribulation. Christians will be hated-far worse than at any other time in history, but be encouraged Christ Jesus' spirit is with us.
