JESUS THE
HATER
Col.4: 5 Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming
the time. Let your speech
be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to
answer every man.
Matt.22: 36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Once
again the pulpits of America have provided a sturdy structure for hate. And
preachers by the thousands walked away from the true Jesus and embraced a Jesus
who hates. Oh this Jesus who hates is orthodox and His systematic theology is
impeccable. He has built great modern buildings and He provides wonderful
worship music. He has a Biblical morality and he specializes in demonstrating
His pro-life and anti-gay credentials. All in all He believes the Bible from
cover to cover. In fact, this Jesus who hates believes the Bible is inerrant.
Although this Jesus never attended any seminary, most orthodox seminaries have
bestowed an honorary doctorate upon Him. The Jesus who hates is uber-orthodox!
A few of
the more well known preachers took to the air waves of God’s love and tweeted
these messages about President Obama.
"Praying
for our president, who today will place his hands on a Bible he does not
believe to take an oath to a God he likely does not know,” tweeted Mark
Driscoll of Mars Hill Church in Seattle.
“"President
Obama 'spiritually blind' or 'evil hypocrite' in claiming MLK and disregarding
the weakest,” tweeted John Piper of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Minneapolis.
Let us
never let an opportunity go by that can be used to spew the hatred and disdain
we know Jesus loves and appreciates. And we all know that no one can be saved
and be pro-choice. That is clear from Scripture. For whosever believeth in Him
and is pro-life will not perish…. There it is, clear and convincing evidence
that faith in Jesus is not enough. For by grace are ye saved through faith in
traditional marriage. Again, convincing evidence that faith is not enough.
But let
us assume that God has spoken to us verbally and let us know that Barak Obama
is not born again. Ok, armed with that dirty little secret we can now proceed
with reckless abandon and eviscerate him and his motives and publicly strip him
of any pretences he might try to exhibit. You see, Mitt Romney can deny that
Jesus was part of the Triune God and still receive our respectful language and
even our public support, but Barak Obama must be verbally chastised. We must
not allow him to escape without the open wrath of the Jesus who hates.
Brothers
and sisters in Christ, we have reached a new low in our representation of
Jesus. Due to the idol of nationalism and a love for this nation, millions have
turned their backs on the true Jesus and have constructed a Jesus who hates. Oh
they would insist that this is the Jesus who stands for righteousness, and with
that they would suggest that unkind and hateful rhetoric directed at a specific
sinner called by name is what Jesus would do. Yes, when Jesus died for that
same sinner named Barak Obama He would later direct His followers to “get him!”
And with no more effort than pushing a few buttons preachers sent out a message
to the world which was loud and clear. Jesus is not fooled by lost sinners. He
hates them and will display His anger with words that demean and castigate.
Now I do
not profess to know for sure the President’s spiritual standing, but even if I
thought he might not be saved regardless of what he claims, I have a different
interpretation of the words that come from Jesus. I happen to believe that Jesus
loves sinners. I happen to believe that Jesus is not fooled by my sin either. I
happen to believe that the gospel is presented in grace. I happen to believe
that my words should be gentle and filled with the love of God. I happen to
believe that given the chance the Spirit would direct me to eat with President
Obama and share Jesus with Him from a genuine heart of concern. Yes, I happen
to believe in a different Jesus than the one that seems to roam around the evangelical
neighborhood these days. I happen to believe that the same Jesus who gave His
life for sinners knows their sin and desires them all to come to a saving
knowledge of Him.
What have
we done to the church named after Jesus? What kind of Jesus are we perpetrating
on the kingdom of darkness? How can we hate our fellow man and profess we know
God? Of course we know abortion is murder. Of course we know all about how God
feels about traditional marriage. Yes, we know all that only because God’s
grace has made us new creations and by God’s Spirit He has graciously led us
into truth. So if we stand by grace, and if we only know by grace, how can we
use that grace as artillery to wound and publicly humiliate those who
supposedly we desire to see saved? To speak words meant to demean and flog and
spiritually emasculate someone is openly at odds with the spirit of redemption,
to say nothing of the command to pray for our leaders.
But such
is the carnal motivation of most of the western evangelical church. It is now a
contest between conservatives and liberal; between socialists and capitalists;
between gay and straight. Forget about the great Commission and a place once
called Golgotha, now is the time to leverage voting blocks. You cannot serve
two masters. There is a vicious disconnect here that must be exposed. And once
exposed it will present a choice between what we want and what He said. You
cannot serve politics and Christ. You cannot love America and love Christ. Oh
yes. That is the valley of decision which openly exposes the great compromise
and idolatry running rampant throughout evangelicalism. You see, Rob Bell and
Brian McLaren and Joel Osteen are not the only heretics among us. Men like
Driscoll and Piper are spreading the destructive heresy of nationalism which
may be more subtle than the usual doctrinal suspects but which still is a damnable
heresy.
This
issue of nationalism is diabolical and continues to deconstruct the faith once
delivered to the saints. Perhaps the most powerful element of this deception is
that is accepted and even embraced within churches which consider themselves “orthodox”.
And because of this evil the love of God has become a joke; the ministry of
reconciliation is a fraud; the grace of our Lord Jesus is ignored; and the
gospel is now a banner of moral superiority. We were shocked when the children of
Israel made a golden calf and worshiped it. I mean who could be so ignorant and
idolatrous? But we have far outdistanced them.
We who
have the Word of God, and we who have the Spirit, and we who know about
Calvary, we have hardened our hearts, stiffened our necks, and bowed before an
idol and pledged our allegiance to it. And the repercussions of such spiritual
treachery become more and more clear with each opportunity to manifest that
idolatry. It is far worse than we can imagine. In fact, such displays of the
heart openly reveal another faith and another Jesus. Of what good is it to
erect written statements of faith that commit to the deity of Christ and His
redemptive sacrifice, but live and speak and think and display a completely
different Jesus than is revealed in His own narrative? It makes our statements
of faith just another self serving idol.
Paul
endured all things for the gospel’s sake. We are commanded to love our enemies
and to respond to evil with good. This moral crusade is an antichrist spirit
and it emanates from a love for an earthly nation that many suggest is
compatible with a love for Christ but which is in reality a denial of Him. They
fashioned gold into a calf while we fashion a nation into Christ. The word "humility"
should be wiped out of all ecclesiastical dictionaries and be rejected as
truth. If we do not believe it let us be honest enough to quit pretending.
And if we
are not going to strive to emulate the life and teachings of Jesus let us quit
this mockery and flood the bars and whore houses. I have more respect for men
who openly frequent the company of prostitutes than I do for men who claim to
follow Jesus and spew words of self righteous hatred. Barney Frank openly
states his sin, while preachers sin openly and say it comes from Jesus. This
kind of witch hunt will only get worse as Jesus tarries.
The
gospel is now built upon two main themes: abortion and homosexuality. Throw in
a little capitalism and democracy and you have it all. But in this climate of
moral hubris and “pin the tail on the sinner” one thing is for sure. If people
do not call you a compromiser and a condoner of sin, then you are not showing
enough of the love of God to sinners. Men and women left family and homes and some even gave their lives for the gospel's sake and to see sinners presented with Christ. But sinners today should not expect the same treatment.
I refuse
to castigate President Obama or Barney Frank or the abortion doctor down the
street. But I cannot claim any spirituality unless I am willing to give
my life for them. My Redeemer and Master did, and I claim to follow in His
footsteps. To be honest, I am not there yet, and in that I am undone. But one
thing I do know, that if God is love and if Jesus is God, then the Jesus that
hates sinners is a fraud.
(Pro 21:1) The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.
ReplyDeleteOuch! Getting my toes stepped on...again!
ReplyDeletePastor Rick, how true your words and how needed they are to be heard. In an immoral society Christians have taken on the bold task of calling others out in their sin and transgressions. It is true that those sinning need to recognize the lost path and be led to the redeeming love of Christ. How is that EVER going to happen when the lull is from condemnation? Redeeming love, forgiveness and total LACK of judgement (....lets see who throws that first stone, eh?) is the path to take instead of the Holier Than Thou critiques and cries of the masses.
Yes, Christians today are unintentionally(?) giving the wrong impression of what our Lord represents. Those lost are repelled, not drawn into, the "so called love of Christ" that is being enacted. Once again, being led and following suit with the masses rather than being led by the spirit.
I will admit, for the very first time I actually had compassion towards our nation's leader just after the election. It was amazing and although fleeting, it was there! Yes, praise God for ALL THINGS are possible through Christ....and this work of the spirit is no greater evident than in loving our fellow sinners.
Let us not forget that the one thing that all men desire - regardless of who or where or what language they speak is to be loved. Love is what is missing from the lost....that hole trying to be filled with purchases, addictions, etc. God IS love and until they have God, they will not be able to fill that hole in their heart, put there by design, which only He can fill.
Praying for change in ME daily....desiring to be that city on a hill that cannot be hid and the light in the darkness.
Thank you fro that humble and transparent testimony. I believe the Spirit continues to circumcize the hearts of any who have ears to hear.
ReplyDeleteYou know from a few years of posts that I see the idolatry of nationalism and that I believe that much of the church is fighting the wrong battle with the wrong weapons. I believe dominionism and culture war are errors.
ReplyDeleteIt is evidently true, nonetheless, what those ministers whom you quoted said about the president. The issue is, which I think you are saying between the lines, is that these ministers are fingering "sin" in the president to the public at large, rather than coming in humble love with the Gospel, to the man himself. Not being priestly, nor ambassadors of Christ, nor even coming prophetically to warn and instruct. These ministers are (knowingly or not) encouraging others to see the president as an enemy to harden against, rather than as a lost sinner and object of the Lord's seeking. They've lost the message of redemption.
Daniel "worked for" the greatest anti-christ king in the world. The Lord dealt with that king until he declared that the Lord God of Daniel was the only living God. Would the Lord do similar chastisings unto revelation and repentance in the worst sinners and power-brokers of our day, if we the pilgrim church, emulated the example of Daniel's witness living in the midst of a pagan power that blasphemed and opposed the Lord?
To put it simply: If I put my efforts into prefecting my walk and witness abiding in Christ and perfecting holiness, rather than trying to "fix" or "correct" everyone else, would the Holy Spirit be able to work dramatically through my prayers and witness?
P.S. That christians can support a Mormon but castigate the president for not being a christian, is alarming.
Submitted in love, Victoria
As an outsider looking in, I've been shocked to hear so much hate coming from church pastors and church leaders. They are betraying the gospel for a bowl of pottage. And their verbal target has been the homosexual community, pro-choicers, liberals. But the verbal target they relish most on throwing their poisonous hate on, is one man, their President. Yet, they rely on their governing elected leader to keep their infrastructure secure, to keep their shores and airspace safe, to keep those SS cheques printed and sent in the mail, or their pensions and assistance cheques deposited in their accounts. They depend on this man to take the fall when things go wrong, and they depend on him to sacrifice his family and his safety so he can keep the nation safe, and from falling into chaos, or from the financial ceiling from caving in, or from keeping America's churches tax-exempt. Even though he's been elected by the majority, instead of leaving they stay in their comfort zone and keep throwing nasty hateful arrows. The people who hate are probably the most secure comfortable satisfied customers in today's world. They have everything they need, in comparison to other countries.
ReplyDeleteI believe the enemy of our souls has bewitched a number of christians. They've been influenced by something "other" than the Word of God. Something has slithered into the back door of their minds and all they can see is black or white.
I believe it to be a spirit of paranoia and fear, and, may I say it, racism, that has been unleashed. The kind of paranoia that has christians making statements of the kind where they believe the Administration carried out the tragic shootings so they could later implement gun ban laws and take everyone's guns away. I cannot believe that Spirit-filled christians are falling for this satanic propaganda machine giving marching orders to fight til the death for a cause that has nothing to do with Jesus. Some christians are worried about FEMA camps, and losing their rights, and the whole bunch has been infected by an uncontrollable yeast.
Perfect love casts out fear. This fear that is stronger than their love of mankind is not a christian testimony. The gullible, fearful, paranoia mixed with the power-hungry deceptive greedy wolves in sheep's clothing are running the organized church. There's a darkness that has invaded the halls of the churches and if real christians can't see it, then the enemy has won. God doesn't force His will on anyone, He lets them choose and it's evident that they choose hatred.
I pray that they will have their eyes opened. I believe if more true men of God, true apostles, like Brother Rick, would sharply rebuke those like Paul did to the early church ones who accused the "Cretans of always being liars", God's people would reach the unsaved in these last days.
If President Obama were any of our children, would we enjoy the attacks that he receives daily from christians and christian leaders? Wouldn't it grieve us to hear such language? How many of us have adult children that aren't yet saved? Do we allow people to condemn them daily? Or do we prefer that people pray for them?
ReplyDeleteWhy were there crickets during previous administrations when rumors were rampant about whether these administrations were carrying out questionnable practices?
ReplyDeleteI recall many christians sites praying for President George Bush, Jr. and his family. However, since the 2008 election, I seem to remember reading about some pastors praying one of the Psalms, against President Obama. It is just plain unadulterated hatred, and unchristian behavior to pray curses against any man or woman. Who has bewitched the church?
The castigators remind me of the story of King David in 2 Sam: 12. The Lord sent Nathan to David to tell him about a parable of two men, a rich one, and poor one. The poor man had one little ewe lamb that his children loved. A lamb needed to be prepared to serve to a traveler, and the rich man, who had many flocks, was so mean he made the poor man to offer his pet lamb. And when David heard this, he was really angry and demanded to know who the rich man was "As the Lord lives, the man who has done this shall surely die", and said that the rich man should restore fourfold to the poor man because he had no pity. Then Nathan said to David, "You are the man". This is because David took Uriah's wife and sent Uriah to war where he was killed.
ReplyDeleteThe castigators love to point the finger, and forget that they once needed God's forgiveness. They look down to others and publicly humiliate. And it seems that they love to pick on certain men.
thankyou for the chastisment Rick,I needed that
ReplyDeleteYou are attacking men who are trying to expose the lies of a baby killer, who publically makes a mockery of God Almighty! Google pics of aborted babies then tell yourself that you bashing the preachers who are standing against Obama and his abortion agenda is of God! Not Hardly! God is for the innocent and the innocent are the dead children not Barak Obama! He covered his own hands in innocent blood and he cares nothing about the content of the Bible! He just plays on the sympathy of people like you to elevate his hate for God and twist his words! You have become one of Obama's tools! You defend him as if you really believe he may be a Christian! God didn't tell us to be stupid and call devils saints! That is leading the flock astray! When he stand in front of the people and Children of this Country an calls himself leading it with his Christian values then he is mocking my God and He should be exposed to all the people who have their heads in the sand! You need to read your Bible about abortion and homosexuality and then regroup!
ReplyDeleteI published one of your coments. I was not at home when you posted them.
ReplyDeleteAm reflecting further on this post, and am so thankful that this brother is shown how the church has strayed. We've been deceived, and I got caught up in the vortex of political commentary, not so much for the politics, but in thinking I could defend the reputation of the church; but found there wasn't much to defend. And then later, came the christian voices of hate towards sinners not like them, and I remembered church in my early days and our pastor reminding us that all sinned, and fell short. I remember our church reaching out to the lost, and many people from dysfunctional lives were so thirsty for God's love and Word. Step by step more people, who realized that the Father, who said, though your father and mother forsake you, I will never forsake you, were accepting their heavenly Father's love. That is why I turned to God and accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior; I suffered abuse and neglect from a parent.
ReplyDeleteSo, when I read about little Barack Obama, as a child from a broken home, who didn't know his real father very well, and who was a child of a single mother, who traveled the world, re-married, lived abroad, lived in a new household with a new step-father, but at some point was sent away to live with his grandparents, of whom he said in his memoir that he was a christian whose religious views developed in his adult life, was not raised in a religious household, described his mother raised by non-religious parents as being detached from religion, real father being a confirmed atheist, stepfather "a man who saw religion as not particularly useful"; Obama as a man who became a christian by choice, albeit what others would call a "social christian", but who said, "it was because the precepts of Jesus Christ spoke to me in terms of the kind of life that I would want to lead - being my brother's and sister's keeper, treating others as they would treat me". I remember our church members shedding tears for those like Barack. And praying, really praying.
So, christians can hate and hurt and tear up this man as much as they want, but if they look in their church, they'll find someone in the pew next to them who came to the true knowledge of Jesus Christ, despite their sad life as a child, in unreligious circumstances, despite all the odds against them.
Good word.
ReplyDeleteI have not read the previous comments yet so accept my apology if this comment is redundant?
ReplyDeleteRick, you wrote this paragraph above: ("Paul endured all things for the gospel’s sake. We are commanded to love our enemies and to respond to evil with good. I have been teaching others for years that this moral reality is the Devil's trap to numb and then neuter the ears of nations to the Gospel.
Why?
Because if Satan can be allowed to bring about moral works there is no need for repentance and Godly sorrow for our inherent Adamic nature. People go along believing the lie that they are not nor any longer morally corrupt so there is no need to die daily to self being morally upright !
Another good word.
ReplyDeleteTo the commenter "Truth that set you free" what irony your comments!
ReplyDeleteI am sure Rick needs no other defenders than Our God who is using him these days to bring focus and fire to the soul!
I suppose it's going to be difficult for you to hear you missed the import of the message and the Spirit of Grace and Truth behind it?
You missed it!
I recommend you retread the message more prayerfully and exercise yourself gently and hopefully you will recognize your own error in your response above and seek reconciliation thereby in here?
Just something to think about?
Powerful post!
ReplyDeleteThe line that stood out the most to me... "Unless someone accuses you of condoning sin then you are probably not showing enough of God's love to sinners."
Extravagant love of the prodigal Father is what God is all about! :-)
Rick is not attacking them. He is revealing to us that many professing believers focus is out.
ReplyDeleteWhy are we surprised to read of the "church" involving themselves politically?
There are two churches being built. One is the "church" of this world, the false church filled with professing believers helping to build the kingdom of antichrist on earth.
The other is the True Church which Jesus Christ is building of which He is Chief Cornerstone. Ephesians 2:20. Jesus said: My Kingdom is not of this world. John 18:36.

To The Truth Shall Set You Free:
ReplyDeleteYou do not seem to be set free from The Truth. It is if WE have the capacity to remove the sin nature from everyone. It is IF WE can change a person's heart. We have deceivers out there following a different Jesus, a different gospel, and a different spirit. We have those who are professing believers using the Name of Jesus and telling others to FIGHT back against the injustices of the world. Jesus said His Kingdom is NOT of this world... why are so MANY fighting for this world....Is it perhaps they love this present world? And they have NOT achieved their goal yet of the American Dream?
The gentleman is exercising his Constitutional 1st Amendment Rights as he was taught in the American Church. Love him anyway. Pray for him definitely.
ReplyDeleteWe were once like that too.
Cherie c.
Yes, we were there once also.
ReplyDeleteYes agree, got caught up in the religious/political Jesus.
ReplyDeleteThe Lord delivered me out of it.
Agape love is one who is concerned about a person's spiritual welfare. Might not sound like agape love to some but when a loved one is straying outside of the pen eating feed that is not healthy and another sheep warns them, that is agape love. :)
God give us His patience for brothers and sisters who are bound with cords of which we were delivered by His grace. But church leaders must be corrected because they often draw the sheep astray.
ReplyDeletePastor Rick,
ReplyDeleteSad to say I saw it first hand. So true, so very sadly true.
Cherie c.
The false church growing by leaps and bounds today considers correction as "unloving". Love without Truth is not love at all, but instead is of the flesh. As Kelli has said, Agape love is the Father's Love through all who have His Spirit. Those with His Spirit indwelling are grateful He corrects us. This correction is chastening. Those whom He loves He chastens. Hebrews 12:6.
ReplyDeleteThe flesh does not appreciate correction. My spirit recognizes and accepts correction through another one with the same Spirit indwelling.....Iron sharpening iron. Proverbs 27:17
1 Corinthians 1:18 For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
Just returning here and have some thoughts as I again listen to the news (shouldn't have) and hear another claim from a night news show host claiming his leader (President) is anti-semitic and anti-American. It's just too much to bear.
ReplyDeleteOn another note, I too hate abortion. I wish there were good politicians who care about the sanctity of life. But, we live in rich democratic lands, where the majority of the electorate win, and sometimes independence, freedoms and equality supercedes biblical teaching. Liberalism has been around for years, indoctrinating and getting an upper hand in every avenue. All the church can do is do their best to reach as many as possible. I cringe when I hear some call politicians 'babykillers' or God mockers. It sets a warring tone. It sets a moral crusade against those who don't understand and it destroys our christian witness. What good does it do? It causes other riotous men who love a fight to get angrier and angrier.
Our society enables young women to be provocative, be sexy, have pre-marital sex and we say nary a peep. Then they get pregnant, get an abortion, and again, nary a peep. States that accommodate abortion clinics where it's legal don't get too much attention. But a black man is elected President, and he's being called the 'baby-killer-in-chief'. And it's not that he isn't going to be accountable to God some day (like we all are) on his political stands on pro-choice or on any other unbiblical cause, it's that he is the ONLY one being called on the carpet by pro-lifers - and this is a liberal political stand that many presidents before him were either in agreement with, or neglected to bring the abortion issue to Congress. It's been rumored that presidents had slave mistresses and there's always the possibility that these women were forced to have abortions. Why aren't we calling the Founding Fathers 'baby-killers'?
I don't see any difference between a man who supports a horrible law, to a man that ignores it, and places it on the back burner. Both are
neglecting to save the lives of the unborn, one by enabling the act, and the other by avoiding the act. I've never heard such a clutter of complaints since 2008. Yet, before that, there was nary a peep.
I suppose if one wants to really fight for the unborn, they can join an organization, volunteer, and keep vigilantly tenaciously demanding their representatives to bring the abortion debate to the front lines and pray for laws to change, or they can visit the women's shelters and teach the young pregnant woman about Jesus.
I still don't see what's wrong with praying for all men. Calling out a man for his offense in a hateful manner......it's like calling out every person with his specific vice....."gossiper, adulterer....in fact I've never heard an angry christian hater call out "slave-owner" yet. Although today we don't have them too much, there were plenty around the times when the Constitution was written. I want the real Jesus and I need to watch my tongue as well...... "Therefore, submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake, whether to the king as supreme, or to governors, as to those who are sent by him for the punishment of evil-doers and for the praise of those who do good. For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men--as fre, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God. Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king." 1Peter 2:13-17
This was such a good post to read! TRUTH! To the point, no frills...it is what it is...as christians we must learn to BOW! Even when we don't like it!

We are not to have fellowship with the world?
Are we not to avoid those that are in false teaching? Scope out those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; and avoid them.Romans 16:17
Separation from the world is the testimony as we have been called out from the world.
How did the early church react to the injustices that came upon them, did they set up political parties and go after Nero?
I do not see the early church going on the offense when they were persecuted.
Many anti-Christs have gone out into the world and what is their motivation but to deceive and to take the place of Jesus the Christ and His finished work.

ReplyDeleteHave nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.
Eph 5:6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.
Eph 5:7 Therefore do not become partners with them;
Eph 5:8 for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light
Eph 5:9 (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true),
Eph 5:10 and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord.
Eph 5:11 Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.
Eph 5:12 For it is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret.
Eph 5:13 But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible,
Eph 5:14 for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, "Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you."
Eph 5:15 Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise,
Eph 5:16 making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.
Me: Where is there fault to be found in this current article basis those words, of which you pull out one verse to malign the character of this brother?
Also, what you have done with your comment is imply God doesn't know what He is doing.
Consider this in light of that conclusion made:
Rom 13:1 Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.
Rom 13:2 Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment.
...
1Ti 2:1 First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people,
1Ti 2:2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.
1Ti 2:3 This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior,
1Ti 2:4 who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

That's okay because I question a pastor who would name an article "Jesus the Hater." Blashemous Title. A Christian willing to post such a blog may want to question his leading of the Holy Spirit. Should be "Rick the Hater and Judger of other Pastors."
Me: Would you say God was forgiving or unforgiving with these stories which are purposeful for our learning upon whom the ends of the ages has come?
Num 16:20 And the LORD spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,
Num 16:21 "Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment."
Num 16:22 And they fell on their faces and said, "O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and will you be angry with all the congregation?"
Num 16:23 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
Num 16:24 "Say to the congregation, Get away from the dwelling of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram."
Num 16:25 Then Moses rose and went to Dathan and Abiram, and the elders of Israel followed him.
Num 16:26 And he spoke to the congregation, saying, "Depart, please, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest you be swept away with all their sins."
Num 16:27 So they got away from the dwelling of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram. And Dathan and Abiram came out and stood at the door of their tents, together with their wives, their sons, and their little ones.
Num 16:28 And Moses said, "Hereby you shall know that the LORD has sent me to do all these works, and that it has not been of my own accord.
Num 16:29 If these men die as all men die, or if they are visited by the fate of all mankind, then the LORD has not sent me.
Num 16:30 But if the LORD creates something new, and the ground opens its mouth and swallows them up with all that belongs to them, and they go down alive into Sheol, then you shall know that these men have despised the LORD."
Num 16:31 And as soon as he had finished speaking all these words, the ground under them split apart.
Num 16:32 And the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, with their households and all the people who belonged to Korah and all their goods.
Num 16:33 So they and all that belonged to them went down alive into Sheol, and the earth closed over them, and they perished from the midst of the assembly.
Num 16:34 And all Israel who were around them fled at their cry, for they said, "Lest the earth swallow us up!"
Me: Please note Moses was very angry with them and God answered Moses' prayer not theirs! His response was more than just a response answering Moses who got very angry.

ReplyDeleteAct 5:1 But a man named Ananias, with his wife Sapphira, sold a piece of property,
Act 5:2 and with his wife's knowledge he kept back for himself some of the proceeds and brought only a part of it and laid it at the apostles' feet.
Act 5:3 But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back for yourself part of the proceeds of the land?
Act 5:4 While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not at your disposal? Why is it that you have contrived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God."
Act 5:5 When Ananias heard these words, he fell down and breathed his last. And great fear came upon all who heard of it.
Act 5:6 The young men rose and wrapped him up and carried him out and buried him.
Act 5:7 After an interval of about three hours his wife came in, not knowing what had happened.
Act 5:8 And Peter said to her, "Tell me whether you sold the land for so much." And she said, "Yes, for so much."
Act 5:9 But Peter said to her, "How is it that you have agreed together to test the Spirit of the Lord? Behold, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out."
Act 5:10 Immediately she fell down at his feet and breathed her last. When the young men came in they found her dead, and they carried her out and buried her beside her husband.
Act 5:11 And great fear came upon the whole church and upon all who heard of these things.
Me: I have to say it is my sense that what you have done with your comments is unfounded and misses the mark and reality of the message in the article.
There is a greater accountability applied to those in public ministry or have you forgotten these Words?
Jas 3:1 Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness.
I may have missed something because I do not follow the "news" in detail, but I can't see how Pres. Obama is any more "wicked" than many previous presidents.
ReplyDeleteNo president was following Jesus with all his heart; presidents aren't going to be Spurgeons or Whitefields.
American sacralsim becoming the norm, in which western culture, the nation of "the United States" and its Constitution, and the Church and Kingdom of God, have become all confused. The current error is that the church must fix up the world, believing that everything is the Kingdom of God, and that the church has the mandate to sanctify it or transform it into the Kingdom that can please God. The cultural mandate, the dominion mandate, seven mountain mandate, transformationalism, are all sacralist and lead to this view that Obama is worse than anybody before. But only faith can please God. And our commission from Jesus is still the Great Commission. Two kingdoms vs. monistic theology is playing out in this, becauae how is this president any more evil than others, or than other historical world rulers like Nero, Nebuchadnezzar, Kim il Jong, Stalin, etc.?
Victoria
Kelli, just to build on your comment I want to point out the "talk/walk" wisdom of the Apostle you make reference to. He certainly went on the "political" offense ironically as Rick with this article when you see him recognize there were various beliefs and cultural "laws" in play as he was finishing his course! Recall this?
ReplyDeletePaul at Acts chapters 21-24 involves himself with citizenry and politics and sees an opportunity to bring division in theologies and acknowledge God's Divine Authority upon that murderous High Priest at the time as well as he goes about negotiating his personal polity with the centurion:
Acts 22:25 But when they had stretched him out for the whips,[fn] Paul said to the centurion who was standing by, "Is it lawful for you to flog a man who is a Roman citizen and uncondemned?"
26 When the centurion heard this, he went to the tribune and said to him, "What are you about to do? For this man is a Roman citizen."
27 So the tribune came and said to him, "Tell me, are you a Roman citizen?" And he said, "Yes."
28 The tribune answered, "I bought this citizenship for a large sum." Paul said, "But I am a citizen by birth."
29 So those who were about to examine him withdrew from him immediately, and the tribune also was afraid, for he realized that Paul was a Roman citizen and that he had bound him.
I'm not certain we are to refrain involvement in the world as we participate with life in it? When we are led by the Holy Spirit to shake our salt shaker we should as we here Rick shaking salt on the current state of affairs active in the world and Church.
Thanks Michael
ReplyDeleteYes, I see your reference in Acts
but is this not history?
We can get distracted with the things of this world. You have the news that goes on 24-7 and people follow the news as if it is the teaching of the Word.
This is of the world system. We have many anti-Christs that have gone out into the world. We have false teachers and his servants trying to build another church that manifests itself as an angel of light and tries to outwardly conform the world 2 Corinthians 11:14-15
Agree with Victoria here and she said it very well as we are not called to transform the world
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2
To the poster Named God,
ReplyDeleteYou call Pastor a Blasphemer, but you're using God's name in vain?
Examine yourself brother; you know the beam in your eye, then you can address the splinter in your brother's eye.
God so loved the WORLD....... rich, poor, free and bond, and those who hate and call themselves Christian (in this case God)
I will pray for you because I am really concerned for you.
Cherie c.
Pastor, please do not be discouraged. You know the more you labor in the Lord the more attacks for the truth you will get. Glory to God!
ReplyDeleteLift you and all those here up in prayer.
God Bless, stay humble, run the race, keep the faith, stay strong in the Lord.
Love them that hate you, and do good in the face of evil. Remember your teaching on Luke 6. I printed it out to look at it each day. So glad to have it because it helps me.

ReplyDeleteHave nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.
GOD
To Anonymous GOD:
This does NOT mean as born again believers we are to go on the offense and attack those who are of the world.
When we separate ourselves from the deeds of darkness that is the testimony to the world and as well as false teachers, the exposure is the separation from them.
*From Pastor Bill Klein:
It means don't compromise your walk with the Lord in order to fellowship with those who do not know the Lord. It is teaching that we are to continue our normal walk with the Lord which will bring conviction to those who are indulging in the unfruitful works of darkness.
Amen sister,
ReplyDeletePraying for us that we don't get side-tracked by the enemy into joining in with a battle that it not ours to fight.
We are not of this world, nor fighting for it.

I am Anon 11:07 - I would like to correct a statement in my comment about a night news show host claiming that the President was anti-semitic and anti-American. I am certain I heard it, and so when I was surprised no one called the people out on it, I researched the web and the news site, to find the video and it's no where to be seen. It may have been edited, or I was really not hearing correctly.
ReplyDeleteSo, for the record, please ignore that statement. (and the lady with wax in her ears) LOL.
I have heard President Obama called those things as well as other things. Glenn Beck and Shaun Hannity regularly call him those things.
ReplyDeleteRe: the title
ReplyDeleteTo me, ‘Jesus the Hater’ points up with delicious irony the contrast in Jesus going to his death loving his enemies, yet we his followers regularly spewing hate for those we consider our own enemies.
Paul cautions very stringently against preaching ‘another gospel’, an admonition which in retrospect, I have often failed to keep.
I agree Mark. Appropriate title. I have been guilty of this also; hence the reason I spend so much time on various blogs.

ReplyDeleteI appreciate your willingness to bring up these issues,, as we are commanded to speak the truth with one another..I frankly can see both sides of this issues, and have seen both sides going to extremems in thier postitions.. We are to preach the gospel to all men. we are commanded to not judge those who are without the house of Yahweh.. they can do nothing but be lawless just as we once were. The gospel is to be proclaimed to all men.. Now if somone who has claimed such as our president to be a christian, yet proves by His behaviour he is anything but, I believe we are allowed to bring that up, however the spirit in which we do it is of the utmost importance.. and on some make a disctinction, pulling them out of the fire, hating even the garment spotted by the flesh..We should stick to speaking the word only and not speaking evil of any man as the word commands..and we are commanded not to speak evil of the leader of our nation.. I believe he is Gods judgment against a back slidden church that is no longer salt or light. He is the assyrian and Yahwehs Rod of correction. let us be carful to put ourselves under the yoke as Jeremiah commanded or we might find ourselves fighting against God which would indeed be foolish
