GUNS - WHEN DOES THE SHOOTING BEGIN?
I rarely present a post about some political issue, but I reserve the right to do it once in a while. I just have to think aloud on this issue of gun ownership. The gun rights advocates strongly contest that the Second Amendment was instituted to protect the average citizen from being at the mercy of a totalitarian government. The logic goes that if the government desired to take over completely that an armed citizenry would be able to defend itself from that kind of dictatorship.
So here is my question, if the current NRA crowd believes that the Obama administration is actively pursuing a totalitarian takeover, and if the first step toward that takeover is to disarm the public, isn’t that the exact situation that calls for the usage of those guns? What I mean is if the reason for the Second Amendment is to combat the government when it seems necessary, and if you believe the Obama Administration is engaging in that kind of totalitarian takeover, then shouldn’t you start shooting?
Where am I wrong? And are people making ready their guns?
I live very near the convention center holding the first California gun convention this weekend since the Sandy Hook shootings in Connecticut. If the televised interviews of those attending are any indication the answer to your last question is, Yes. People are making ready their guns and buying ammo by the truckload.
ReplyDeleteTruly the prince of darkness rules this earth, waging battles everywhere especially in people's minds. He comes only to kill, steal and destroy. But, hallelujah!, the war was won on Calvary and our Jesus reigns. We followers MUST keep our eyes fixed on Him or the enemy will have our minds as well.
I think I'm going to write a sequel submission from a Native American point of view with this title: Guns, when will the shootings stop ?
ReplyDeleteMy scriptural text will be: Revs 6:3 When he opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, "Come!"
4 And out came another horse, bright red. Its rider was permitted to take peace from the earth, so that people should slay one another, and he was given a great sword.

Revs. 20:13 And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done.
14 Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.
15 And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
