Darkness and Light
If a house is dark, people assume that the lights are not on. They are correct.
And when a culture is spiritually dark, people assume there is no spiritual light. They are correct.
In both cases it isn’t the fault of the darknes, since it is just being what it is, dark. But the blame or cause for darkness, in a house or a culture, lies with the source of the light which seems to be turned off. But it is much easier to curse the darkness and outline its many faults than it is to turn on the light.
