I find it very hard often to put into words with my mouth or written, what the Lord has done and spoken in my heart. When I read something like what the Lord has revealed to you brother, I again see what the apostle Paul meant regarding the body of Christ and each of us only being a part. May we all have the grace to walk in our part, each uplifting Jesus in all we say or do for His glory!Least Brothernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27942026.post-88947401292585035502013-01-17T20:25:09.127-05:002013-01-17T20:25:09.127-05:00Wow Rick,
Another one hit out of the park!
I'...Wow Rick,

Another one hit out of the park!

I'd put forward a couple of points of view.

First from Luke 3:14 Soldiers also asked him, "And we, what shall we do?" And he said to them, "Do not extort money from anyone by threats or by false accusation, and be content with your wages."

Here John is opening the doors so to speak to your message in this article. Here we see soldiers being touched by the Spirit through John's ministry, short lived as it was.

Now contrast that with this:

2 Tim. 2:3 Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.
4 No soldier gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his aim is to please the one who enlisted him.

What I want to point out is the Greek word that Paul uses that is translated "civilian pursuits". The Greek word is bios:
1) life
a) life extensively
1) the period or course of life
b) that by which life is sustained, resources, wealth, goods

Here are several other places where this word is used. Consider them as by these verses one can get a sense of pacifism as you lay with your post:

Mark 12:44 For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on."

Luke 8:14 And as for what fell among the thorns, they are those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by the cares and riches and pleasures of life, and their fruit does not mature.

Luke 15:12 And the younger of them said to his father, 'Father, give me the share of property that is coming to me.' And he divided his property between them.

Luke 15:30 But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your property with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him!'

Luke 21:4 For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on."

1 Tim. 2:2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.

1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life[fn]—is not from the Father but is from the world.

&

1 John 3:17 But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him?

It's interesting to note that in each of these verses the carnal nature is in view on some level except for that one verse, 2 Tim. 2:4 where the Apostle focus' us on the only kind of warfare Christians are to be involved in actively!

In another place he describes our weapons not as carnal but powerfully spiritual to the pulling down of strongholds!

michaelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01744678277860175675noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27942026.post-38581772692910131222013-01-17T19:55:01.924-05:002013-01-17T19:55:01.924-05:00No Christian can support war. We are aliens not Americans.

(Eph 6:12) For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

This weekend is a movie release "Zero Dark Thirty"

If any Christians go and see this movie they are PARTICIPATING and glorifying in a revenge murder.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
