That is how the comment came about.

The two verses from Matthew and Mark have been in the front of my mind for a sometime now. With this ongoing Staph infection that seems to be the only way I am going to be rid of it. The infectious disease doctor I have says that these staph infections can reoccur for up to two years. I really don't want to be sick every other month for that long. Up to now I have taken at least 81 days of anti-biotic this year, very strong ones.

Since I have been reading like you said to it seems that it is up to me to do what the scriptures command me to do. Some forty years ago I rode rodeo rough stock. One of those in particular was bulls. Now you take a flat braided rope and wrap it around the girth of the animal. Then as you’re seating yourself on his back you can feel the muscles of the bull flexing and hear the snorts of anger coming from his nostrils, tightening the rope and grasping it with one hand. You are also aware that that bull is thinking that when he dismounts you he will stomp a mud hole in you. The ride lasts for eight seconds. So if I did these sorts of things why is it that I cannot wrestle with the Lord for at least eight hours? The outcome will be much better don’t you think. A little limp for the rest of my days couldn’t be all that bad.

JoelAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27942026.post-17308116808029478372013-11-23T11:24:00.909-05:002013-11-23T11:24:00.909-05:00Good comment, Joel.Good comment, Joel.Rick Fruehhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05879848568892457571noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27942026.post-40227251874503654692013-11-23T11:15:08.552-05:002013-11-23T11:15:08.552-05:00Matthew 17:21 However, this kind does not go out ...Matthew 17:21 However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting."
Mark 9:29 So He said to them, "This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting."

I believe these to be one of the commandments of Jesus.

John 14:15 "If you love Me, keep My commandments.
John 14:21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. I used the sunrise and sunset to gauge how long to fast. But I had very little time to pray. No, I'm not a sabbath keeper, my sister is in error. I still don't know if I did it correctly. No one knew because I read the passage where it said to "wash your face" .......

Do we set a side a time when we can do both at once? Is it for one meal or half a day or a whole day? This is where the men of the church needs to instruct the body.

It would be appreciated if guidance in this area was provided. I don't think anyone is expected to be an expert, but some teaching on this would be a great help.

A few quotes by Leonard Ravenhill on the subject, if you please.

“No man is greater than his prayer life. The pastor who is not praying is playing; the people who are not praying are straying. We have many organizers, but few agonizers; many players and payers, few pray-ers; many singers, few clingers; lots of pastors, few wrestlers; many fears, few tears; much fashion, little passion; many interferers, few intercessors; many writers, but few fighters. Failing here, we fail everywhere.”

your sister in Christ Jesus,
Cherie c.
Cherie c.noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27942026.post-34171831701201579162013-11-23T03:14:48.612-05:002013-11-23T03:14:48.612-05:00I think as Rick aptly writes that we need to redis...
I think as Rick aptly writes that we need to rediscover the word prayer. Here is as succinct an expression of what we will experience as we too die to self and let Christ live His LIFE through ours:

2 Timothy 3:12 Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,
13 while evil people and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.

michaelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01744678277860175675noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27942026.post-86415122399484144952013-11-22T17:38:36.391-05:002013-11-22T17:38:36.391-05:00How is that a response to this post? Here is a reality that sometimes brings an unwarranted frustration with the misbehaving and immature brother and sister we are called to cover and care for! How many times a day are we to forgive them? Hopefully you can cite chapter and verse what Jesus taught?

Now, for the maturing True Believer, here's the raw stark reality of what we will increasingly face as we die to self that Christ might have His voice through ours.

Peter said a very hard thing, here:

Acts 3:23 And it shall be that every soul who does not listen to that prophet shall be destroyed from the people.'
24 And all the prophets who have spoken, from Samuel and those who came after him, also proclaimed these days.

Notice verse 23? There simply is no wiggle room being offered there, is there? And this is GOOD NEWS?

Why yes if you want to dwell for the rest of eternity in the Kingdom of the Gospel Peter preached that day!

Now one more thing that becomes obvious to the True Believer in this corrupt and fallen world. Having been to all continents and most major cities around the world I can attest to the fact that evil is abounding on the streets of these cities and being an honorable decent parent who wants to raise their children in true Christianity will be difficult in any country these days!

Consider this prophetic word written by Peter, here:

2 Peter 3:3 knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires.
4 They will say, "Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation."

You will be scorned believing in second coming of Christ. You will be humiliated for this Faith! Your life in Christ will be subject to the morally and politically correct police!

Think about what God was saying to Joshua, here:

Joshua 5:9 And the LORD said to Joshua, "Today I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt from you." And so the name of that place is called Gilgal to this day.

How is it that Egypt was still scorning the Children of Israel after forty years? They must have been following them by reports coming to the Pharaohs since crossing the Red Sea! In any event there must have been something in the camp that The Lord wanted addressed or He wouldn't have mentioned it to Joshua that day.

We live in perilous times now and they are not going to get less so especially as the True Church emerges from the riff raff of what is the so called church to actually represent Christ to the people of the world.

Jesus said an amazing thing to His disciples that is as much a reality of Truth today as the day He said this to them back then:

John 15:20 Remember the word that I said to you: 'A servant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours.
21 But all these things they will do to you on account of my name, because they do not know him who sent me.
22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have been guilty of sin,[fn] but now they have no excuse for their sin.
23 Whoever hates me hates my Father also.
24 If I had not done among them the works that no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin, but now they have seen and hated both me and my Father.
25 But the word that is written in their Law must be fulfilled: 'They hated me without a cause.'

You can bet if they hated Him without a cause then they will be hating Him in you without a cause these days too!michaelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01744678277860175675noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27942026.post-13824000935254617892013-11-22T13:34:12.467-05:002013-11-22T13:34:12.467-05:00This is so awesome.
