I Am What it Says I Am...

I AM WHAT IT SAYS I AM...

Joel Osteen says this at the beginning of every Sunday morning meeting:

“This is my Bible. I am what it says I am…”

Surprisingly I agree with him in that.

II Pet.2: But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. (1 Corinthians 6:11 ESV)

AND SUCH WERE SOME OF YOU!

A Pastor friend asked me to cover his Church congregation, his Church lunch program and his Church Thrift store while and his wife got away for some r and r. I was at the Thrift store one afternoon when a lady came in. She was going through the clothes rack looking for some things. I asked if she needed help. She asked where some clothes for toddlers were? In the next room i said pointing in that direction. When she found something she came asking for a price break. I told her just make a donation and we'd have a prayer of blessing to The Lord. She asked if I was a Christian Minister? I said yes and she then began inquiring about me. After answering questions I asked her if she was a Christian. She said yes and that she wasn't from around the area but visiting from Texas. She said she was a part of Osteen's church.

I had heard about him and in fact when his dad was alive and pastoring my wife's Uncle had preached in his church. Not knowing much about Joel I began asking some fairly basic questions and getting strange and sometimes non responsive answers I asked bluntly after reading those words from 1 Corinthians 6 to her if she identified with anything in them? Things then turned dark and foreboding and this woman was stumped because she had never read the Bible much just that whatever it said about her she believed must be true because you guessed it that's what Joel always says it says, your article title! She was blind being led by the blind.

I asked her if she understood what those words meant when they say about her too "AND SUCH WERE SOME OF YOU" read the previous verses?

No she said kind of grief stricken. She got very emotional and a bit short and angry with me that I could even consider her to be like any one of those sinners! She did not believe she was a sinner and that she was a good person!

Our conversation thankfully was interupted by another person who needed assistance. This lady made her donation and left. I was left wondering just what does Joel teach from the Bible? I know my wife's uncle and have ministered, preaching and teaching in a number of his fellowships he has personally planted on a number of islands of the Philippines! And I'm sure when he preached at the time Joel's dad pastored he preached the whole counsel of God, not holding back anything.

Has anyone heard of the quotes "I AM" from many new age sources. It seems to be very popular with gurus and there are plenty of sites with "I AM mantras, the I AM Foundation, the "I AM" principle of Wayne Dyer and many other I AM religious principles.

We know that the Lord God Almighty told Moses on Mt. Sinai that his name was "I AM THAT I AM" and only God can take that title. Anyone who tries to refer to themselves as I AM, to me, are trying to get as close to calling themselves little gods as possible.

There are now products out there, IAM pet foods and it would seem that Joel Osteen either doesn't realize how dangerous it is to putting himself and teaching others to call themselves I AM, or mimicing pagans' mantras.

It's really odd that men like Joel Osteen wouldn't realize that.

I am also what the holy Bible says I am!

Truly we are what the holy Bible says we are. God's word is truth and what it says about us is true.

Joel Osteen is a false teacher and leading many away from the Lord with his ' I, YOU, and ME " doctrine. He does not teach to seek the Lords will but tells his sheep that they have the power to expect great things on the road to their destiny. He also teaches that it is GODS will for you to have all things, the desires of your heart. New car, new job and anything else the world has to offer. We as Christians should expect to have the best of the best. That church is in sad shape as is all those that buy into his teachings. Feel good stories and a life of great things. I thank the Lord daily for his wisdom and discernment about such foolish false teachers.
