Osama Bin Laden
Osama Bin Laden was wicked and debauched, and according to the Scriptures he got what he deserved in the natural.
Rom.13:4 - But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.
He was an enemy of all people. But spiritually, his essence dwells deep within all of our hearts, which illuminates the love and grace of God toward an entire race of fallen rebels. I deserved eternal death but I received eternal life. Even though I am a-national and a pacifist, I cannot help but feel a sense of justice and I hope that those who lost friends and families at this man’s hands will flee from God’s justice and cling to the justice meted out upon God’s Lamb in our place.

Well, when it was on the news last night I couldn't help notice the "glee" in the manner it was announced and talked about.
I thought - one man dies and the vultures gather to pick his bones.
He was responsible for much death and loss - but this country has turned what he did into child's play. America has now, in turn, killed and maimed millions of civilians on their way to "retaliation and justice" and we call it noble.
We - those of us who are His - must not forget to pray for our enemies. God will repay evil for evil.
I wonder what will come of this - this killing of one man.

Both comments very good. Let us not forget, the man who is responsible for more deaths than Hitler, Stalin, or Bin Laden was Adam.
The rejoicing over Bin Laden's death is a product of nationalism.
Also, America sanctions the brutal, rippng murder of a millions infants every year. The lost always assess sin from a convenient perspective.
The "glee" Anonymous cited was much what I noticed too. The celebration in America today reminded me forcefully of the appalling scenes we saw on 9/11 of Moslems celebrating the death of thousands at the World Trade Center.
We said then that it just showed satan's spirit of murder and revenge is part of Islam.
Is it a different spirit in which Americans are celebrating today ? I'd agree with Rick, nationalism blinds us to the spiritual realities.
Proverbs 24:17 says, "Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, & let not your heart be glad when he stumbles." That was my first thought last night when I heard the news....Yes, we can celebrate the proper execution of God-ordained justice against evil in the world. But should Christians celebrate the death of the wicked? God doesn't. "As I live, declares the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live; turn back, turn back from your evil ways" Ezekiel 33:11 That's why some of the euphoric displays of joy on the part of Christians-even Christian leaders--at the news of Bin Laden's death leave me cold. Their celebrations strike me as more American than Christian-which is precisely the problem with much Christianity in America in our day.

I pray that Osama's death might move the church to a greater commitment to reach the Arab world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Osama bin Ladin's death should create a deep contrition in our hearts. Have we done all we can to reach men with the Gospel?
